Spring is our primary season. Scripps Ranch Lacrosse will field teams to compete in different age brackets within the San Diego Girls Lacrosse Association (SDGLA) for Spring play. The SDGLA is made up teams throughout San Diego and southern Riverside counties. Our teams compete in three age brackets: 14U, 12U, 10U.
Registration for Spring lacrosse opens in November. Assessments (if necessary) are held in late January or early February, with practices starting in February. Games will usually start the first weekend of March and continue through mid-May. Interested teams will compete in the San Diego Shootout, an end of season tournament held in late May. US Lacrosse Girls' Youth Rules are used for all play 14U and below:
14U: For girls ages 14 and under born after September 1st. The 14U age bracket is the largest age bracket within the SDGLA. As a result, there may be multiple divisions within 14U with varying skill levels and quality of play. When practicable, SRLax will seek to field a team in the most competitive 14U division. Scripps will field lesser experienced teams within SRLax in a less competitive division. Modified checking is allowed.
12U: For girls ages 12 and under born after September 1st. Traditionally there is only one division within the 12U age group. So as to maximize competitive play, and challenge our experienced teams, SRLax may elect to place a more experienced 12U team in a lower leve 14U division. Modified checking is allowed.
10U: For girls ages 10 and under born after September 1st. Teams in the 10U division play smaller-sided games (7 v. 7) and on a smaller field. Score is not kept. Checking is not allowed.
