Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Coach Maria joined Scripps Ranch Lacrosse in 2016. Coach Maria played club lacrosse for Skywalkers and high school lacrosse for Notre Dame Prep. From there she went on to play at the University of Notre Dame. Since relocating to San Diego, Coach Maria has held coaching positions at Cathedral Catholic and Coronado High Schools. Coach Maria works in the Special Events department at the National MS Society planning and managing their fundraising events.
A three-year player at Pikesville High School in Maryland and four-year starter at the University of Maryland, Coach U joined Scripps Ranch Lacrosse in 2016. As a player, Coach U was an All-American and National Attacker of the Year in 1991, and a member of the US National Team (1985-2005) in which she won two World Cups. Coach U started her coaching career as an assistant coach at Old Dominion University, followed by time at Duke University. Since coming out west, Coach U has held coaching positions at Occidental College and Stanford University (all-time winningest coach at Stanford). Coach U is the director of Bay Area Wave and Los Angeles Wave travel lacrosse clubs.
Coach Joe returned to the Scripps Ranch Lacrosse sidelines as a coach in 2017. As a player, Coach Joe played at UCSD before moving to Scripps Ranch where he founded Scripps Ranch Lacrosse Association (2006). Coach Joe eventually moved on to found the Pacific Falcons travel lacrosse club. In 2010 he guided a San Diego squad to a 3rd place in the 15U National Tournament--still the highest finish of any club outside of Maryland and New York.
Coach Kira returned to Scripps Ranch Lacrosse in Fall 2017. An alum of Scripps Ranch Lacrosse, Coach Kira went on to play basketball and lacrosse at Scripps Ranch High School. Coach Kira was a four-year starter at Grand Valley State University, where she was named Great Lakes Athletic Conference defensive player of the year in 2017. Kira recently joined Fitness Quest 10 as an athletic trainer and we are excited to welcome her back to the SRLax family.
